    General description
    Antifungal antibiotic
    Special conditions
During menstruation, treatment should not be interrupted.
For fungal diseases of the vagina, simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner is recommended. During the treatment period, it is recommended to avoid sexual contact.
The effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms:
During treatment with the drug, it is possible to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
    Drug interaction
With the simultaneous use of nystatin with clotrimazole, the activity of the latter decreases.
    Pharmacodynamics
Polyene antifungal antibiotic, highly active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. In the structure of the antibiotic, there are double bonds that have a high tropicity to the sterol structures of the fungal cell membrane, which contributes to the incorporation of the drug molecule into the cell membrane and the formation of a large number of channels through which uncontrolled transport of electrolytes is carried out; an increase in osmolarity within the cell leads to its death. Resistance develops very slowly.
    Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes.
    Indications
Treatment and prevention (with long-term local antimicrobial therapy) of candidiasis of the vaginal mucosa.
    Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy, children under 18 years of age (there are no data on the effectiveness and safety of nystatin in the dosage form for intravaginal use in children).
    With caution:
    Pregnancy and lactation:
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy. Use during breastfeeding is possible, since the drug is practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes, so it does not penetrate into breast milk.
    Side effects
    Local hypersensitivity reactions are possible.
There may be a risk of spreading resistant forms of fungi, which requires discontinuation of the drug.
